Embira simply means 'beads' in Luganda, the language of central Uganda. It's where our business started, and describes what we do best - simply making beautiful, jewellery using great beads. Not just any old beads though... we mix together a whole variety of materials to create something new: hand-painted clay, glass, recycled paper, semi-precious stones, lacquered seeds and beans, wood, and nearly all from East Africa. We put them together to create 'embira' - beads, with both European and African accents. We hope you like them!

We also sell fairly-traded crafts, many of which are made using recycled materials. These are commissioned by embira and created by a team of skilled artisans in Kampala, Uganda.

Norwich Global Village Market is bringing global crafts and gifts to Norwich on 14th & 15th April! Click on the poster to be taken to their website to find out more!
